Gouric, a xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitor, is prescribed for the long-term management of hyperuricemia in adult patients with gout. It is recommended for those who have not achieved adequate results with the highest tolerable dose of allopurinol, are unable to tolerate allopurinol, or for whom allopurinol treatment is contraindicated.
